Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time. - Thomas Merton

About Me
I have been lucky enough to visit many different countries and to experience living in different cultures. I was born and raised in India, coming to live in England when I was twelve. My husband is American - we travel a lot and now divide our time living in Texas and Surrey.
My work sits between abstraction and figuration and is anchored in the landscapes which have inspired me in my homes and on our travels. I am attracted to light and colour, influenced certainly by living in India and Texas where the strong sun brings colour to life. I use colour expressively to capture a feeling or mood. In the same way my landscapes often include the suggestion of a house or home as a metaphor for feeling part of the landscape.
It wasn’t till I retired from a career in IT marketing that I took up art again. I am generally self-taught but have attended workshops and classes at The Norfolk Painting School, Heatherley’s School of Art, LARA, The Barns Atelier and Lavender Hill. While living in Texas I won an “Honourable Mention” award for two paintings at the Watercolour Art Society Houston. I have paintings in private collections at home and abroad.
I actively take part in Open Studios, Arts Alive and Exhibitions at various venues around the country.
